an extension to the current British Museum which sets its focus on revitalising material culture and spearheads the repatriation of artefacts situated in the British Museum from outside the UK.

In an approach to de-colonize the museum, the New British Museum re-shifts museological techniques and uses VR at its forefront to create a curated series of exhibits where instead of showcasing original artefacts, visitors immerse themselves into digital worlds where they can see, hear, and touch the objects’ identity. By immersing themselves in the worlds of the objects, the significance of the originality of the object becomes obsolete. Therefore, a series of replicas are constructed on site, where they are used as proprioception material props to enhance the overall experience.
